Oodles of Doodles
Just having some doodle fun in my art journal. I haven't done much with my books where I have painted backgrounds, but working on plain white pages can be fun too.

Oodles of Doodles
Been playing in my journal over the past week or so. Just some fun things.
This one and the next one are an ode to Skottie Young who illustrated "Fortunately the Milk." I love the style and it was fun to try and have fun with it.

Quote Art
I was not feeling well yesterday so I felt a bit sentimental. I did some quote art. I also needed a page for my daughter's French folder, so I did a French quote.
I love this one - I love the rays of the sun as well as the saying. And the zentangle word.
Just journaling. I like my clouds. It matched my mood.

Cow
I didn't have much time last night to do any artsy things. I hate it when real life interrupts my creativity!
I had remembered seeing a cute cow picture on the internet and decided to try and come up with my own cow picture. I like cows.

I think it is kind of adorable! I love the metallic gel pens! So sparkly!

Zentangle
I never knew zentangle even existed. It was the way I did my doodles all along. I never knew it was a "thing." It's very cool to see it is!
And I've been working on my lettering, too:

Using the Printer
So, I've decided to go to the printer for help with my lettering. I need to practice the fonts I want to be able to draw, so I did a bunch of backgrounds on printed quotes. I used regular card stock because I needed something that would print well.
Here is what I did last night:

I really like the art. This is what I've been trying to accomplish with my lettering. I have some more printed ones to work on and then I'm going to try doing the lettering freehand again. I really like these.

Working with Spray Ink
So I made all the backgrounds this weekend and decided to try and do a few things with them. I have discovered that the backgrounds are pretty dark to be trying things on top ... I'm going to have to think about this.
I have ordered more inks from Rangerink.com with some lighter colors and we'll see how that works.

I thought using metallic pens would make the colors of the letters stand out. It kind of did.
And as you can see, I'm still working on my lettering. I have a long way to go.
I like the dangles, but they are hard to see on the dark background. It was a pretty background but I don't really like what I put on it. You just can't see it very well.
I'm going to have to think about different options for these backgrounds. Maybe even layering something else - some other kind of media on top. I'll post them here when I figure it out!

Spray Ink Art Journal Backgrounds
Worked on backgrounds for my art journals today! I ordered a bunch of dylusions ink spray off of the Rangerink.com site and have just had a blast working with them.
Now I just have to figure out what artwork to put on top! I'm really loving the word art, with zentangles, of course, so maybe that will grace these pages.
I do think some of the backgrounds are going to be too dark to do some types of art. I will have to experiment and see!
